WIGAN Council has teamed up with the National Canine Defence League (NCDL) in a bid to save dogs' lives.
Last year 476 stray dogs were rounded up in the borough and many had to be destroyed.
The NCDL is staging a roadshow on Asda car park in Leigh on May 16-17 (10am-4pm), when dogs can be micro-chipped, so if they stray they can be easily identified.
Micro-chipping is quite painless and permanent, and it costs £9.50, but it is free if the owner is on benefits.
