WALKERS are invited to celebrate the start of Greenweek 2001 with a series of countryside walks.
Organised by the Friends of Sunnyhurst Woods in conjunction with Blackburn with Darwen Council, the first walk takes place on Sunday May 20.
Mavis Smith, a local bird enthusiast, will be leading people into Sunnyhurst Woods, Darwen, and helping identify various birds and
their songs in their natural environment.
People should meet at the Falcon Avenue entrance at 8am.
The second walk in the wood takes place on the same day between 2pm and 3.30pm and will be led by Anne Watson to raise awareness and sponsorship for the British Epilepsy Association.
