A PARK'S future has been put in local hands.
The borough's parks and countryside team has been delighted by the response to the questionnaire that went out to 900 homes a fortnight ago asking residents for their views on how to update the Victorian Leyland Park facilities at Hindley.
The feedback has shown that the people of Hindley want to be involved in the park development and hope local residents may form an effective group to promote the interests of the park in the future.
Community liaison officer Anne Cockram said: "We really want to know what plans people would like implemented and will do our very best, finance allowing, to carry them out.
"Different age groups use the parks. Children use them for play while older people like to use them for taking a rest and enjoying the natural environment. We want to hear them all so please send your form back."
Hindley residents who returned their completed questionnaire before today will also be entered in to a prize draw to win £50 worth of Co-op vouchers.
