THE rocks placed on Bass Lane, Summerseat, may be annoying some people, but I am wholeheartedly in support of the action ("Rocks put the squeeze on motorists", April 27).
For years, we have endured the stupidity, impatience and discourteousness of rat-run motorists who simply charge up and down this single lane road, making no attempt to share the flow or use the passing places provided.
Now they will have to find an alternative route, learn some manners or risk considerable damage to their cars.
And should the council intervene to remove the rocks, they will be guilty of rank hypocrisy. By their own admission, there has been a need for traffic-calming measures through Summerseat for years.
Now a handful of large stones has done the job for them. Rock on, John Barlow.
