EX-PLAYERS from some of the best known amateur soccer clubs in the area are putting together a reunion night to thank their backroom staff.
Jim Jeffries, one of the organisers, has got together old players from BICC, J&J Hayes, Plank Lane Catholics and Atherton Colls for a night of nostalgia at the Leigh British Legion Club on May 25. World Cup winner Roger Hunt has been invited as guest of honour.
Jims says: "Everyone who playing in those teams in the 50s, 60s and 70s are invited just to say a thank you to all the managers, secretaries, ground staff etc for all the sterling work they did. It's only when you finish playing that you realise what a tremendous job they do. Now it's time to thank them.
Tickets are priced £1 each and are available from Jim Jeffries, Atherton Colls or the Railway Hotel, Twist Lane.
