WORKERS digging deep for the Church Street improvements uncovered a part of Blackburn's murky past.
The structure of underground toilets, built in 1882, were unearthed up to ten feet down.
They were filled in with concrete in 1962 when alternative toilets were built at the boulevard.
Back on Valentine's Day they were the subject of the Lancashire Evening Telegraph's Looking Back Column by Eric Leaver.
A reader sent in a picture of the toilets from 1952 to remind older readers of a sight they never thought they would see again.
