GRANTS to help black and ethnic minority groups in East Lancashire can be obtained from a council that last year gave away £130,000.

The Charities Aid Foundation Grants Council will support groups who are having difficulties attracting funds from other sources.

Preference will be given to smaller and newer groups managed by the people that they aim to serve.

The fund's guidelines stipulate that at least 70 per cent of the management committee must be black or ethnic minority.

Grants from £400 to £4,000 will be given for consultancy and training.

These will be in areas such as team building, business planning, financial management and budgeting.

Projects can be broad-based serving the whole community or provide a service to a single group.

Guidelines and an application form can be obtained from CAF Grants, by calling 01732 520 000.
