PAUL Crichton's hopes of a move to Blackpool appear to have hit the rocks.

The former West Brom stopper has been heavily linked with a move to Bloomfield Road as he looks to resurrect his career after a season of frustration at Turf Moor.

But Seasiders boss Steve McMahon is now lining up a swoop for veteran Wolves stopper Mike Stowell -- sinking any chance of Crichton moving to the newly-promoted Second Division club.

Whatever happens this summer, however, Crichton's days with Burnley would now appear to be numbered.

Following his £80,000 move from the Hawthorns two seasons ago, he initially became a big fans' favourite, playing an integral part in the Clarets' promotion from the Second Division.

But after a switch by Stan Ternent, he lost his place to Nik Michopoulos last season, and has barely had a look in ever since.

Now, entering the twilight of his career, the experienced keeper is likely to want regular first team football.

And the only way for that to happen would mean a move away from Turf Moor as long as Michopoulos continues to reproduce the form he showed last season.
