TWO people escaped with minor cuts and bruises when the car they were travelling in overturned on the M66 southbound near Edenfield.
The Vauxhall Cavalier was driven by Anthony Tompkins, 42, of Kingfisher Drive, Burnley, who suffered a minor cut to his head.
His passenger Sarah Deventer, 19, of Heys Close Blackburn, suffered minor cuts to her left hand and head.
Both were taken to Bury General Hospital but not detained.
Sgt Russell Gregory, of the road policing unit, said: "The car was overtaking traffic.
"The driver lost control of the car which crashed into the crash barrier and overturned."
Greater Manchester police closed the southbound lanes of the motorway for around half an hour from 2.40pm after the accident on Friday.
