A RADCLIFFE catering firm helped to make sure Robbie Williams's weekend concerts at Old Trafford cricket ground satisfied all appetites.

The Lunch Box, based on Cross Lane, supplied all the refreshments for medical and first-aid staff who manned the hugely popular shows.

But they were not the only local company helping the event go so smoothly.

Bury-based company Show Med provided medical facilities for 150,000 people. It geared up for the big occasion with more than 40 first-aid staff, three doctors, six accident and emergency nurses and a fleet of four ambulances.

More than 400 people received treatment from the medical teams with complaints such as sunburn and dehydration from the heatwave.

Sun Med also had support from other Bury companies including Woolfold Travel, who transported staff to the stadium each day, and Sport Soccer, who assisted with uniforms for more than 90 staff.

However, the most unusual request was for a physiotherapist for Robbie himself. The star likes a game of footie prior to taking to the stage, so Tottington-based physio Chris McManus was on standby for treatment if required.

But as it turned out, Robbie took to the stage each day fighting fit and gave three excellent performances that Manchester will not forget for some time.
