Dear Sir,

Last week I attended the Leigh past players' dinner - I have attended several before.

It was most unfortunate that the event should be spoiled, especially when a record number of 200 attended, by the great delay in the meal being served due to understaffing.

Only six ladies were employed to serve everyone, so all the guests hadn't been served two hours after the dinner began.

There is no excuse for this whatsoever. This situation should never happen, the person or persons responsible should be severely reprimanded, whatever were they thinking about?

It was most unfair to the Leigh Past Players' Association, who worked so hard to organise the dinner and it reflects badly on Leigh RLFC. Let's hope it never happens again.

Despite this problem, it was an enjoyable evening, most people were good humoured about the problem.

The six ladies couldn't be faulted, indeed they deserve great praise for their efforts. Let's hope they were paid double under the circumstances.

I am writing this letter on behalf of many of the people who attended. Perhaps someone at the club could explain how this was allowed to happen. Certainly the Leigh Past Players Association deserves an apology for this let down.
