ASHLEY Siddle knocked one of the top seeds out of the English Men's Amateur Championships at Saunton, Devon, yesterday.

The Rossendale 18-year-old beat England international Zane Scotland to book a place in this morning's quarter final.

He enjoyed breakfast with his opponent Geoff Harris -- who is staying in the hotel room next door -- before teeing off at 9.30am.

"I was a bit nervous, I didn't expect to beat Zane," he said. "At the start I struggled but managed to get a couple of halves, but I played brilliantly on the back nine.

"There were quite a lot of people watching, I had a lot of support from the locals."

He went one behind on the sixth after finding a ditch but hit back winning the seventh and eigth and never looked back.

All seeds have now been eliminated from the tournament.

Siddle, who would play his semi-final tie this afternoon if he gets through, says he won't let the pressure get to him in the closing stages of the competition.

"I have thought all the way through that I am just happy to be here. I am just taking it as it comes."
