RAINHILL 1st XI travelled to Liverpool Nalgo and recorded their second successive victory in a match sponsored by PBS Windows -- thanks largely to the efforts of Indian professional Vinay Dandekar.

Bolstered by the news that Dandekar would play for the rest of the season, Rainhill captain Mike Rotherham won the toss and decided to bat with the sun beating down.

And with his fellow batsmen struggling it was left to Dandekar to take the game to Nalgo almost almost single-handedly.

The opener batted with great fluency to register a magnificent 113, including 17 fours, off just 114 balls. Dandekar was eventually caught with the score on 156-7 and Rainhill declared soon after on 166-7 from just 39 overs.

In reply, Nalgo were soon in trouble, Steve Jordan taking three quick wickets to reduce them to 35-3.

Not to be outdone, Dandekar then got into the act with his leg spin and the home side reeled to 49-6.

The tail wagged for a short while but Dandekar chipped away and when he claimed his fifth wicket Nalgo were all out for 140. Dandekar finished with 5-60, Steve Jordan 4-53 and Mattie Dale 1-15.

This weekend Rainhill entertain the league leaders Prestatyn at Victoria Terrace.

For Rainhill seconds Steve Milnes brought the home side back into contention with a fine accurate, bowling performance to take a five wicket haul and only conceding 37 runs.

Liverpool NALGO threatened to score 200, but were bowled out for 173. Top scorer for NALGO was David Finn who was cruelly run out on 43.

Up and coming fast bowler Liam Pearson took 2 key wickets for 38 in 11 overs. In reply, Rainhill were undaunted by the target and Matty Dooling let rip to score an excellent 80 runs which included 11 fours and 1 six.

Rainhill had to do it the hard way with NALGO's Rob Lewis taking 5 for 22. Peter Swift set about the bowling and scored the winning runs to claim a valuable 20 points.

The Sunday XI entertained Windsor Wesleyans who won the toss and decided to bat first.

This proved fruitful as in form Liam Pearson scored a quick fire 30 in 28 balls with five fours, then Steve Melia smashed a brilliant 75 in only 60 balls including 12 fours and a six.

Peter Swift also battered the visitors bowling (40 not out) to enable Danny Sherratt to declare on 221 for 7 from 39 overs.

After the break, the visitors were just trying to keep their innings to together as S. Jones was top scorer on 27. Ross Strachan is a useful all rounder who scored 26 with the bat and took 2 for 20 in 10 overs. The visitors eventually made 100 for 5 which they were happy with.
