FOUR-year-old cricketer Harry Dearden might not have started primary school yet but he's already being compared to Aussie spin wizard Shane Warne.

Harry and his dad Steve - who is professional for Radcliffe - went to watch a cricket match at Trent Bridge a few weeks ago.

A Channel 4 worker spotted Harry playing cricket during the lunch break and was so impressed by the youngster's spinning action that he was invited to take part in the a live TV cricket roadshow.

Harry travelled to Headingly in Yorkshire on Saturday with his grandad and mum, Michelle, and was filmed while he bowled a few of his best spinners.

The verdict from the TV experts? He's as good as Shane Warne.

"They did a split screen and on one side it was Harry and on the other Shane Warne," explained proud dad Steve, of Rochdale New Road, Bury. "They compared the actions and said that they were almost identical.

"I've no idea where he gets it from. I play cricket with him but I've never taught him that. Being able to spin a ball just seems to come naturally to him.

"I'm proud of him but I found it quite amusing more than anything else. A few weeks ago he didn't know who Shane Warne was. Now he's Shane Warne mad."

Steve didn't go to see his son's moment of glory because he was playing for Radcliffe on the same day.

However, as Harry has already been described by one commentator as the Tiger Woods of cricket, the chances are that he will have several other moments of glory.

Some people who have seen him play already reckon he is an England star of the future.

But young Harry could soon have some competition on his hands. His 18-month-old sister Phoebe, Steve tells us, is already quite handy with the bat.
