FUN and folk meets brass when The Houghton Weavers appear at Fleetwood's Marine Hall this Sunday (August 26), along with Fodens Courtois Brass Band.

The Weavers formed 25 years ago and are perhaps best known for their own television show, Sit Thi Deawn, which ran for six series.

The band comprises singer Tony Berry, mandolin, guitar and banjo player David Littler, guitarist Jeff Hill and Steve Millington on keyboards and bass guitar.

This is a return visit for the group, following a successful appearance at The Marine Hall last year. A spokesman said: "The Weavers play popular folk music from the raucous traditional songs made popular by The Clancey Brothers and The Spinners, to hauntingly beautiful ballads done in their own inimitable style, interspersed with humorous anecdotes and hilarious sketches."
