SPECIALIST GP anti-coagulation clinics have been set up at Darwen Health Centre for people who suffer from blood problems.

The move has come as part of the first phase of the Blackburn with Darwen Primary Care Trust's initiative to provide more local clinics to ease pressure on the clinics at Blackburn Royal Infirmary and reduce waiting times for patients.

The second phase of the scheme will start at the Primary Care Centre at Queens Park Hospital in the autumn.

Darwen GP, Dr Stephen Hebden, who is leading the service said: "We are working closely with Dr Newsome at BRI and our GP colleagues to make sure that we meet the needs of patients requiring anti-coagulant follow up support in the community."
