BURNLEY teenager Kieran Sturdy, who had the trip of a lifetime to Disney World and Silverstone race circuit, thanks to the Make A Wish foundation, will be one of the guests of honour at a party staged by volunteers.

The Make A Wish party, to be staged at Derian House hospice in Chorley, this Saturday , will see Blackburn volunteers aiming to spread some happiness to terminally-ill youngsters.

They hope Kieran's appearance, along with the charity's mascot, Captain Wishbone, a giant teddy bear, will lift the children's spirits.

Karen Rainford, Lancashire co-ordinator for the Make a Wish foundation, has organised the event to offer more youngsters the chance for their dreams to come true, and to encourage more people to become volunteers.

She said the group had kept in touch with Kieran, from Hunter's Drive, Burnley, who has had muscular dystrophy since birth and is wheelchair bound, after he had been given his wishes by the group. He was taken to Disney World, Sea World and MGM Studios in Orlando last year and Silverstone earlier this year.

"I haven't dealt with him myself, but I know we have kept in close contact with him. The trip we organised made a big impact on him. He had to have a big operation, and immediately after, the first thing he was talking about was his trip to Disney World."

"We want to bring some happiness to these children. If they want to make a wish, they can write off to our head office, but this party is about making the children's day special."

Volunteers have made every effort to cater for all the children's needs, with games aimed at youngsters between three and 20.

There will also be pass the parcel, music and food donated by Chorley McDonald's.
