MORE than £300 for East Lancashire Hospice was raised by family and friends celebrating the diamond wedding of Darwen couple Jack and Alice Knowles.
The party, which was held at Highfield WMC, Darwen, and organised by Bryan Barlow and his wife Sylvia, a niece of Mrs Knowles, was attended by family and friends.
Mr and Mrs Knowles, of Anyon Street, were married at Blackburn Register Office in October 1941 while the groom was serving in the South Wales Borderers.
Both later worked at Blackburn Royal Ordnance Factory.
