"WE played some great stuff in the first half and I said at half time we did not have to go and score another," Wolves boss Dave Jones.

"Our front six had run them ragged.

"Knowing Stan, they were always going to give it a right go after the break.

"I knew they would have to change their shape and we would have people with the pace to get at them.

"We could have got a fourth and fifth but we defended solidly and did a good professional job.

"We only did what we had to do and you can blame me for that. I just said keep it tight and if we kept a clean sheet we would win it 3-0. You can't get complacent with Burnley around.

"For the last 20 minutes we looked a bit tired but that is only to be expected after the hard game on Thursday night.

"Credit to Burnley because they kept battling and had a few chances. Little came on and started to cause us a few problems.

"Burnley started two points behind us so it was a big game to win. We now have to do the same against Millwall on Wednesday night.

"Everyone at the football club has shown they are willing to work, a great attitude and professionalism."

Clarets manager Stan Ternent said: "Wolves are a very good side, they are very experienced. They know what it's all about.

"They will be among the contenders at the end of the season.

"This is only our second year in the first division and we have high expectations, like Wolves. But they have been trying to get up for a long time and they have more dough.

"Tony Grant turned his ankle, Paul Cook had a slight strain and Ian Cox also had a slight strain but these things happen.

"Glen Little played for about an hour and that was good fitness for him. He has done quite well down that side when we went 4-4-2."
