NEW signings Julian Dowe and Shaun Cryer made their debuts up front for Bacup and the pair teamed up for what they thought was the winner but the referee ruled the goal out and gave a penalty instead.

Nicky Taylor, out with a broken finger, and Stuart Farnell made way for the pair.

Ian McLelland took the captain's armband in the absence of Damian Moran, who was suspended by the club for persistent misconduct.

Karl Stanley, moved from centre forward to right wing-back after a torrid time up front lately, ironically scored both goals.

Stanley opened the scoring after eight minutes when John Garrick put Jason Lanns through who in turn passed to Stanley who made no mistake.

After 15 minutes Cheadle were back on level terms after Mark Hall failed in his attempt to play the ball out of defence.

Ten minutes later Bacup were back in front when Jason Lanns created an opening for Stanley down the right and the forward chipped the keeper.

Cheadle were down to 10 men on the half-hour when a midfielder was sent off for violent conduct toward Vinny Pattison.

Cheadle equalised on the hour after Alex Binney scuffed his clearance from defence straight to former Bury pro Andy Noone who gave the keeper no chance.

Hall was sent off late in the game after a clash with Noone.

Bacup netted what they thought was the winner when Dowe put the ball in the back of the net from a Cryer cross but the ref blew for a penalty, after seeing the defender tugging on Cryer's shirt, which Lanns missed.
