ROBERT Beveridge, 22, of Swift Close, Blackburn, was given a conditional discharge for 12 months by Blackburn magistrates after a charge of damaging a car had been proved in his absence.
He was ordered to pay £516 compensation and £100 costs.
Neil White, prosecuting, said the owner, a waiter, had been returning home from work at 4am.
As he drove along Whalley Old Road he saw a group of people near the Plane Tree. Some were in the road.
He slowed to pass them and Beveridge kicked out, damaging the car.
Beveridge had failed to turn up for his trial and the case had been proved in his absence. Daniel King, defending, said he could not explain why his client had committed the offence because he still maintained that he had not.
