ROVERS winger Jimmy Corbett is planning to resurrect his career on the continent with Royal Antwerp.

The former Gillingham starlet has a week to prove himself after joining the Belgian club on trial.

And Ewood chief executive John Williams hopes it might develop into a permanent arrangement.

"I'm not sure whether anything will come of it but they're looking for someone in his position and we said he could go there for a week," said Williams.

Corbett was signed by former boss Roy Hodgson back in May 1998 for a deal initially worth £525,000 which could rise to £1 million depending on appearances.

However, the 21-year-old's first team opportunities have since been limited and he has yet to appear in a league game for the Ewood club.

A move would therefore suit both parties with Rovers likely to want a nominal fee for the youngster.

Meanwhile, Simon Grayson's hopes of a permanent move to Notts County appear to have been dashed.

County had indicated they were ready to take over the former Aston Villa defender's contract.

But, following the recent departure of boss Jocky Scott, they have since ditched plans to sign him when his current loan period runs out this weekend.
