NEW pupils at an independent Fylde school had no problem puzzling out how to mark their arrival.
First year pupils at King Edward VII and Queen Mary School, Lytham, have planted two monkey puzzle trees to celebrate their first term at the school.
School principal Julian Wilde said: "Head groundsman Paul Ovitts was on hand to supervise the planting in front of the main King Edward building. "The evergreen trees were favourites in Edwardian times and will be the centrepiece of a new formal garden designed by Paul Ovitts."
Ben Waller, 11, said he thought the planting was a good idea. He added: "It's a big honour for us and I like the trees. They will be very attractive and we are going to meet up in 2060 to celebrate our 70th birthdays and see how they've grown!
