SHEFKI Kuqi'S move to Rovers came a step closer last night when new Stockport manager Carlton Palmer revealed that he had left the Finnish international striker out of the squad for tomorrow's trip to Watford.
Palmer decided on the move to protect the 24-year-old from injury should Rovers have an improved bid accepted by the Edgeley Park club next week.
Palmer said: "We have had an offer and the player would like to better himself.
"As a player, I understand that but the offer does not match our valuation and, until that is the case, Kuqi is still a County player. We will only sell him at a fee that is right for the club.
"There is no deal at the moment but I have left him out this weekend because something might surface early next week. There is no point in stopping a player if he wants to leave and he wants to play in the Premiership.
"If the player wants to go that is fine but if he gets injured this weekend then it becomes a problem."
