TODDLERS at a Preston nursery were treated to a special visit when five birds of prey swooped in to say hello.
The 28 tots at Busy Bears Nursery, in Manor Hall Lane, Deepdale, were shown a hawk, barn owl, tawny owl, boo book owl and Bengal eagle owl from the Turbary House Bird of Prey Centre, Whitestake, near Preston.
The Bengal eagle owl was the largest, and was too big for the children -- aged one to five years -- to handle.
It stands at 14ins high with a wingspan of more than three-and-a-half-feet wide.
Falconer George Radcliffe, 63, let the children stroke and hold the other birds before the spectacular animals were allowed to fly around.
Nursery worker Gill Eckersly, 43, said: "The children enjoyed themselves so much that they didn't want the birds to leave."
