PRESTON College went in to this game as favourites after being the holders of this competition and they didn't disappoint the strong following of 150 supporters as they ran out victorious winners with a hard fought but well earned result.

Skipper Chris Skarett led the team out but it was Dave Dwyer who lifted the trophy at the end of the match which was a nice gesture as Dave had been captain throughout the earlier rounds but was unfortunate to miss out from the starting eleven.

The game started brightly with Preston dominating and creating a lot of early chances

It wasn't before long that they opened the scoring through Matt Aspinall header bouncing over the line after crashing against the crossbar.

The game opened up a little and St Theodore's came back into the game but couldn't find that all-important equaliser.

Preston broke once more and John Carroll was fouled in the box, which led to the resulting penalty, which was coolly converted, from the outstanding Matt Henry. Preston had chances to kill the game off but unfortunately did not and if it wasn't for the brilliance of goalkeeper Paul Sockett the visitors could of got themselves back in the game.

It was a classic 'Fabien Barthez' save, as the keeper joked after the game!

St.Theordores did manage to get themselves back into it with a goal that can only be described as a classic blunder which Preston's keeper would like to forget. As the ball was rolled back to him he miscued his pass and it went straight to their centre forward who made no mistake with the finish.

The last ten minutes was an anxious one but as the final whistle went I don't think anyone in the ground could of argued with the result.

Manager Alistair Mollon described this moment as the pinnacle of his managerial career, and thanked everyone involved for their hard work and effort.
