A PROGRAMME of events to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee will take place at Alston Hall College, Longridge from Sunday June 2 to Friday June 7, starting with a Gold 'n Brass Alston Hall Street Party featuring Intrada Brass.

Tickets are £16.50 including buffet supper.

On Monday morning Marie Sherratt will present a talk and demonstration on 1940s cookery including a testing of the dishes.

In the afternoon Ann Kelly will present 'A Reign of Change' -- half a century of change for women. In the evening Anita and Steuart Kellington present Our Beautiful Britain, a slide show accompanied by music. Tickets are £13 including dinner at 7pm.

Tuesday begins with John McGoldrick's course 'From mini to microsoft' -- the objects of social change. The day includes a guided tour of the People's Jubilee exhibition at the Museum of Lancashire in Preston.

In the evening the Grimsargh Players will perform in the Hollow Crown, devised by John Barton.

Wednesday's day course, presented by Colin Dickinson, will be based on the industrial decline in Lancashire since 1950. Transport is the theme of the morning session and the afternoon lecture will centre on the aircraft and cotton industries.

The evening lecture will be Reminiscences of Royal Service (Part 2) by Paul Kidd, who has worked for both the Queen and the Queen Mother.

Thursday's day session will be Pomp and Circumstance -- a portrait of Edward Elgar presented by Raymond Watton. In the evening Graham Jackson will present an Elizabethan Serenade. Tickets cost £16.50 including dinner at 7pm.

On Friday morning Ronnie Ray will talk about his 40 years in showbusiness and stories of the high seas. In the afternoon the college principal, Graham Wilkinson, will present a Golden Age of BBC Comedy. Further information ring 01772 784661.
