WITH two games of the season remaining, Morecambe FC are already making plans for next year' campaign.

Two former football league players are being strongly linked with a switch to Christie Park.

Leigh RMI boss Steve Waywell has claimed that the Shrimps have made an approach for his former Manchester United striker Michael Twiss while teenage defender Adam Douglas is also being watched.

Twiss, a former trainee at Old Trafford, is 24 and can leave Hilton Park under the Bosman ruling this summer.

However, Waywell has accused the Shrimps of approaching the striker before his contract expires, in breach of FA regulations.

Twiss, formerly of Port Vale and Sheffield United, has scored 15 league goals this season and is likely to be in demand at the end of the season.

Douglas, a teenage left back, has reached the end of his contract at Preston North End and sources at the Deepdale club have linked him with the Shrimps.

The pair are expected to be the first of several new faces at Christie Park.

Morecambe are due to face Farnborough tonight (Thursday) and face old boy Justin Jackson of Doncaster Rovers on Saturday.

Both games are at Christie Park and Morecambe could do with the points to ensure a place in the LDV Vans trophy for next season.

Morecambe may not be chasing promotion this season but once again they had a big say in the title race as Boston United clung on for a draw at Christie Park on Tuesday night.

The title chasing Pilgrims came to Christie Park knowing that victory would make them near certainties for the conference title, but it was Jim Harvey's men who came closes to scoring.

David Perkins and Lee Colkin carved out an opportunity for Ian Arnold inside the first four minutes and the former Southport striker rattled the woodwork.

And, just before half time, teenage striker Danny Carlton had a goal ruled out for offside after a goalmouth scramble.

Boston came back into the game after half time but were unable to threaten Craig Mawson's goal.

Relegated Dover proved to be a reasonably happy hunting ground fro the Shrimps as they secured a point against a side destined to end the season bottom of the table.

Morecambe surprisingly went behind on 55 minutes when Dover midfielder Kevin Seabury scored with a fine long-range effort.

That pushed the travel-weary Shrimps back into action on their last away day of this term.

Local youngster and academy graduate Neil Uberschar could have scored before Ian Arnold's intervention.

Arnold firstly found himself brought down for a penalty and then got up and took the spot kick himself.

The first part of Morecambe's end of season road trip came at Margate last Thursday.

The Shrimps had already won at Hartsdown Park in the FA Trophy and against the same side at Christie Park in the league.

It looked like Morecambe were on the way to their third victory in three games against the same opponents when Jamie Murphy flicked an Adriano Rigoglioso corner into the path of Ian Arnold who slotted home inside the penalty area.

That was no more than Morecambe deserved in a dominant first period but, after the break, Margate came back in to the game.

Graham Porter equalised with half an hour left on the clock and both sides had their chances to win it.

The game had a sour ending, however, with a fracas involving several players ending with Margate's Mark Munday being sent off.
