WHEN he stumbled on a hidden treasure of a book in the archives at Leigh town hall heritage officer Alan Davies didn't realise the furore his find would stir up.
The 350-years-old work by a mystery writer, which could change the history of the women's movement, has attracted calls for his appearance on Channel 4's Richard and Judy and from all the national press.
The 180-page publication entitled "Woman's Worth" gives an insight into a well educated woman laying down her strongly held views that women are better than men.
The chapters, written between 1630 and 1640, criticise men and reveal that women are more chaste, valiant and wiser than the male.
Well, she was right wasn't she girls?
Just think if her work had come to light sooner we wouldn't have been treated like rubbing rags for quite so long.
Sadly some women still allow themselves to be - and I don't envy them one bit.
