IN reply to Noel Eke (Letters, April 11) and others recently fined for exceeding the 30 mph speed limit, a few years ago, I had two speeding fines in two months and decided to drive to correct speed limit rather than risk a third.

Driving at the correct speed, however, causes much upset to following drivers who want me to speed up.

Why do we speed? Some of us don't know we are in 30 mph zone; some don't care and some lose concentration for a minute and go a few miles an hour over the limit.

The solution is to mark the speed limit clearly on the road surface. Every road in Hyndburn could be marked every 150 yards for less than the cost of these hump, bumps and mini-roundabout traffic-calming schemes.
