GO like Greased Lightnin' to Blackpool Grand Theatre this week and enjoy a real powerhouse of a musical.

A delayed start due to "technical difficulties" did nothing to dampen the spirits of a revved up audience who broke into hand-jiving as soon as the curtain eventually went up on Monday night.

The story of Grease is pretty simple -- cool boy meets girl, they fall in love, fall out and then she ditches her goody-goody image to win him over.

But it's the backdrop of rock 'n' roll and raging hormones that win the night with a cast crammed with kooky characters and a sing-a-long-a-songbook that's firmly in the hearts of the nation.

Craig Urbani as Danny Zuko is so cool he's a one man refrigeration unit. He also has much of the charisma of Travolta, but sadly not the voice. But two out of three ain't bad.

Haley Flaherty returns to the resort in her second stint as sugar sweet Sandy with just the right mixture of naive charm and an impressive voice.

But feisty female Rizzo is sadly disappointing in the hands of Nina French with too much anger and not enough dry humour.

Grease is still feel-good, fast-paced and a fabulous night out. It's running until Saturday night with two performances Friday and Saturday. Call the box office on 290190 for ticket details.
