CURIOUS householders will have the opportunity to go through the keyhole into the history of their own homes.

If you live in the borough and want to know how old your house is or who lived in your neighbourhood in 1900 get along to Bury Archives, Library and Museum's "Find Your Home" event on May 11.

Ronan Brindley of Bury Museum said: "You'll be able to look at old maps, photographs and census returns to see if there are any old records of your house. If your house is over a hundred years old, you may even be able to find out about the family that lived there in 1901."

But if your home has been built more recently, you may still be able to discover what the nearby land was used for.

Members of the local history societies will also be on hand to tell you more about the area.

The event is part of the first national Local History Week so if you are interested in your house, or even the development of the borough, go along to the museum between 11am and 4pm.
