WHEN you think of birthday parties, sepia-tinted images of pass the parcel, jelly and ice cream and freaked out parents often comes to mind.

Well scrub them and prepare for the Bank Holiday birthday party to end them all as three Blackburn DJs celebrate a year of success on the Manchester scene.

The Hoodlum Tribe -- DJs Dunk le Chunk, Coops and Jeff Hoodlum -- have been playing at various venues since last May with their night Royal Jelly.

Since the start of this year, they have held down a fortnightly residency at Trof in Fallowfield and they are holding two special events over the bank holiday weekend.

At Trof -- in Landcross Road -- on May 4 there is an all-dayer from 3pm to 10pm. Special guests include Matt Lambert from Subtub, PC from Barrio and Tom from Paper Records.

Expect a day of relaxing drum and reggae which will descend into house before rounding off with a selection of tracks from Paper Records.

Then expect another full day of it at Font, in New Wakefield Street.

Again from 3pm, but this time with special guests Andrea Ahimie and Danielle Moore, Andy Lazy Eye

and Jon Kennedy from Tru Thoughts.

Duncan said: "It has been a really good year for us. Between the three of us we have around 20 years DJ-ing experience and we hate to be pigeon-holed.

"We have set our stall out just playing the tunes we like no matter what genre they come from.

"And we like our guests to break from their norm as well. So if one normally plays garage, we'll get 'em to do a house set.

"It is different from everywhere else and we are building up a decent following."

The Hoodlum Tribe do Blackburn's Cellar Bar once a month.
