SOUNESS, who looks set to make Charlton's Andy Todd his first summer signing this week, is delighted with the way his side have finished the season.

Their 10th place is remarkable considering they were flirting with relegation until a fortnight ago.

That means Rovers have now earned themselves an extra £2million bonus.

"When we had our sticky patch and found ourselves in the bottom three nobody paniced, the players kept going, became very united at that time, and they were determined that they weren't going to be playing First Division football next year.

"So all credit to them for doing that and I'd like to say a big thank-you to the fans as well.

"We knew we were going to find it difficult at times but in those three months the fans stuck by us and at no point did they ever get frustrated by that.

"So they deserve a big pat on the back and I'd like to say a big thank you to them from both myself and the players."
