A GROUP of around 20 people from East Lancashire who have been chosen to appear in a film about the Pendle Wiches were due to receive their scripts and musical scores today.

Film writers and composers Pat Hagon and her son Richard have written a script entitled In The Shadow of Pendle Hill which features the lives and trial of the Pendle Witches.

The film will be recorded between August 3 and 18 with a base at Barley Village Hall.

All the local actors and singers, who were selected at auditions in Colne in February, were expected to get their first look at the costumes they will be wearing during a meeting at Devereux Preparatory School this afternoon.

They will then go away to learn their lines before returning in August to take part in a summer school and to film their scenes, which will include visits to Barley, Pendle Heritage Centre and Lancaster Castle for the trial scenes.

The film will be taken on tour around various counties across the country and will also be brought out on video, which local shops have already taken an interest in selling.
