A BOY aged 15 suffered burns to his legs when a petrol can exploded on wasteland in Princess Street, Accrington, at 1.50pm yesterday.

An ambulance spokesman he had been playing with the can and was trying to light a cigarette when the petrol ignited, setting his trousers on fire.

When an ambulance crew arrived he was in a lot of pain and was treated at the scene for burns to his legs.

He was taken to Blackburn Royal Infirmary, but allowed home after further treatment.
