A CAR seen being driven in an erratic manner after leaving the Anchor Hotel car park in Darwen on Friday night was eventually stopped by police.

Blackburn magistrates heard that the driver, Andrew Griffin, was more than double the legal drink-drive limit.

Griffin, 38, of Hollin Bridge Street, Blackburn, who had a previous conviction for drink driving, was banned for four years and fined £160 with £55 costs by Blackburn magistrates after pleading guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

Basharat Ditta, defending, said Griffin had gone for a drink after work, planning to leave his car at the pub.

Unfortunately his girlfriend was unable to pick him up, as arranged, and he made a split second decision to drive home.
