POLICE have issued a warning to pensioners after a man conned his way into the home of an elderly woman in Blackburn.

The man claimed to be from the water board and talked his way into the property in Cowell Way, Blackburn.

He left empty-handed, but assaulted the woman. He pushed her and, although she was not injured, she was left extremely distressed by the incident.

Police are now asking people to ask for photograph identification from doorstep callers and urged anyone in doubt to telephone the police.
