COMMUNITY workers in Darwen are serving up hi-tech with cuppas at a cyber cafe.
The venue opened for business at Sudellside Community Centre where it is running alongside the youth club.
Alison Collins, community development assistant, said: "There are computers and the internet, and you can design your own web pages and even use music technology.
"And if you're a budding pop star, there are also opportunities to create your own songs - lyric writing and singing, and eventually youngsters will be able to make their own CD."
Future projects include digital photography, learning to DJ and video editing.
The cafe is open to youngsters aged 13 to 18 on Tuesdays from 7 to 9pm and on Thursdays from 4.30 to 6.30pm.
Meanwhile, the Sudellside Street centre's Saturday Club is now open for five to eight-year-olds between 10am and 11.55am. Activities include arts and crafts and games. There are parent-and-toddler sessions every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 1pm to 3pm and a Tuesday Women's Afternoon operates every week from 1pm to 3pm.
Other activities at the centre include archery on Fridays from 6 to 8pm, a lunch club and activities for Sudell's pensioners.
