ANY last ditch attempts to resurrect the former Leyland Festival were quashed this week after organisers put the 'For Sale' sign on all the equipment from the event.

From the 'royal' thrones to the sizzling ox-roast spit, members of the festival committee are looking to sell off everything to do with the former annual event and will even consider donating equipment to bona-fide good causes in the Leyland area.

Any paraphernalia left over by the end of this month will be put on the Leyland Round Table bonfire on Worden Park on November 5.

The disposal of the festival fittings marks the final curtain for the cash-strapped community event which ended two years ago.

Festival chairman John Bruck said: "There seems no point in retaining all the equipment which has been so painstakingly built or purchased over the years.

"Everything must go."

The type of equipment on offer includes fencing posts, more than 100 collection boxes and buckets, dozens of large litter bins, signboards and trestles.

There is even a robust hand-built Saxon cart and the large curtain-sided trailers used to house the equipment.

Mr Bruck said: "Naturally we will all be very sad to finally see the end of the Leyland Festival. It is the end of an era for many local Leyland residents who loyally supported the festival every year. However, if other local organisations can benefit from the dispersal of our stores, then we will be delighted to help them."

Anybody interested in acquiring any festival items should e-mail call Mark Hodges at markhodges@blueyonder.co.uk or call him on 07763 787804 or 01772 469813.

Any money raised from the sale of the equipment will go to the residual Festival charity account.
