FIREFIGHTERS saved the day after a Shitzu got its tail trapped in barbed wire.
The long haired little dog had been playing in the garden of its Prestwich Street home in Atherton on Monday morning when its tail became trapped in a roll of old barbed wire, left from work that was being done on the house.
The owner struggled to free the animal for two hours before calling firefighters to the rescue.
A fire spokesman said: "We had to cut the dog free, he wasn't hurt, but quite distressed."
