EDUCATION chiefs in Blackburn have said they will not be urging schools to ban video cameras from Christmas nativity performances.

Their pledge came despite headteachers in Bedfordshire banning parents from filming Christmas shows on the grounds they feared paedophiles could get hold of the tapes.

But Peter Morgan, director of education and lifelong learning, said: "The council, along with local schools, operate to an agreed protocol when using pictures of people for their own publicity purposes.

"However, in the case of parents taking pictures of their children at nativity plays, we leave that to the schools' sensible discretion."
