POLICE are trying to trace a good samaritan who came to the aid of a girl involved in an "altercation" with a stranger.
The man got out of his car shouting and intervened in the incident in Lammack Road at the junction of Revidge Road, Blackburn, causing an Asian attacker to flee.
He then drove off without leaving his details.
Det Sgt Ian Critchley said an Asian man, aged between 20 and 40, had got out of a red vehicle and approached the woman.
But he declined to reveal how the 17-year-old woman received bruising, other than saying there had been an "altercation".
DS Critchley would also like other witnesses to the incident on Tuesday at 10.15pm to come forward.
The Asian man was said to be 6ft tall, with short dark hair and a beard and a moustache.
Call 01254 353562 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 with information.
