SCHOOL REPORT: Our new school motto is Omnia Fiamus; this is Latin for All we may become.

Our children, staff and all who are connected with the school are committed to striving to make the most of ourselves, our school and the lives which lay before us.

We believe that we have a good reputation for helping children to make the most of their abilities in all aspects of their education. Before and after school clubs occur every day in sport and music and during lunchtimes other activities are offered, including a chess club, an environment group and a newly formed class to teach British Sign Language during a 20 week course. We have a particularly fine reputation for music, sport and for our work caring for the environment.

HISTORY LESSON: We feel our school is unparalleled within the area for its innovative design and are proud of the opportunities it affords to our staff and pupils. Holy Trinity School was first situated in School Street, Darwen, in 1830. It moved to its present site in 1861 and documents in school tell of its development through the Victorian years to the present day. However, when the Victorian building was declared unsafe in 1998 the junior children had to be moved into temporary classrooms on a previously grassed area next to the reception area of school while our new school was built. The old junior school was demolished in the summer of 1999 and the ground beneath levelled in the last part of the year to create a new playground. The new junior extension was completed in January 2001.

NUMBER OF PUPILS: We presently have just over 400 children in our school aged between four and 11. Children are in 14 classes named after either precious stones or Lancashire rivers. We serve the immediate community which surrounds us here in the very centre of our town. However many of our children live at the edges of our Darwen and in nearby villages.

STAR PUPILS: Past pupils have gone on to take part in both regional, national and international sport becoming national champions in gymnastics and netball.

TO BE PROUD OF: Recently, our children were invited to take part in the Commonwealth Games Conference and displayed their talents to international delegates to the games.

We are soon to be featured in a National Publication celebrating the work of the Groundwork Trust which highlights examples of good practice.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH A £100,000 WINDFALL? During the next few years we hope to further develop our grounds and all weather pitch, and build pathways through our orchard to what we hope will be an area designated as a peace garden.
