HARDLY a day goes by when Roy Davies (Letters, December 19) is not complaining about Darwen supposedly not getting its fair share. However, his latest moan takes the biscuit as he includes on his Blackburn spending list schemes that have not even happened!

He also includes private developments that have absolutely nothing to do with the council's expenditure that he is always moaning about. If he wishes to go down that route, then he should mention all the new private developments in Darwen off the M65 motorway -- the Sainsbury development at Hardman Way, the ICI plant at Chapels, the huge investment at India Mill, etc.

I, for one, am glad that the council is attracting so much investment in Darwen and Blackburn as this creates new jobs, investments and opportunities for the people of both towns!

I do not come from Darwen but have chosen to reside here because it is a nice place to live -- such a far cry from Mr Davies' negative image. He really does do the town a disservice.

I work in Blackburn and hail from the Manchester area and, believe me, the unemployment, crime, housing and general problems are far worse there than in Darwen.

If Blackburn has always received more, then why is this the case? If Mr Davies thinks that Blackburn has all the amenities and investments, then why doesn't he move there to seek a better life for himself?

Then again, if he did do this, he would no doubt start complaining that the area he moved to receives no investment!

M J ARBLES (Mr), Cemetery Road, Darwen.
