MONEY raised by staff at a Rossendale supermarket is helping a young girl receive specialist cancer treatment in America.

On Saturday the Robyn Brooks Appeal was presented with a cheque for £3,200, raised when staff at Asda, Rawtenstall, set up a refreshment stall at this year's Rossendale Bike Show.

Big-hearted workers at the store have already raised more than £3,000 for the appeal. In August they presented the family with £3,482 from a Jubilee fun weekend.

Robyn Brooks, aged seven, of Rochdale, suffers from neuroblastoma, a rare kind of cancer found in children which can only be treated by new and radical methods in America.

Robyn and her family flew out to the USA earlier in the year to start a specialist treatment programme.

Yvette Jackson, a community worker at Asda Rawtenstall, said: "All the staff raising money have done so in their own time and we are extremely pleased with the amount we have raised in a little over six months.

"We hope the treatment Robyn is receiving will be successful and are keeping our fingers crossed for her.

"We would like to say a big thankyou to our customers who have helped with this appeal. It would not have been possible without them."
