A FIFTH donation has been made to the Magic Eye appeal over the Internet, boosting the total by a further £30.

The cash was received by the Lancashire Evening Telegraph team on Christmas Eve, taking the total towards its new £270,000 target.

Organisers hope that the total will be smashed by March and have already gone out to tender in Europe for the endoscopic ultrasound equipment to revolutionise cancer treatment in East Lancs.

The donation by Andy Holden of Essex Road in Southsea is the fifth time money has been received electronically over the Internet. Thanks to the state-of-the-art web link, making a donation is just a few clicks away.

A Telegraph reader made history by leaving the first donation for the Magic Eye Appeal on-line and became the first person in Britain to donate to charity via a newspaper website run by Newsquest, the company which owns the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.

The website is the first in the Newsquest group to set up a link with a charity, which means readers can donate directly to the appeal when they log on.

All you have to do to leave a donation is click on the Magic Eye logo on the home page. Once through to the site, click on the 'donate to our appeal online' button. Then simply select the donation amount you want from £5 up to £100.

If you cannot see the donation amount you would like, simply select more than one amount to make it up to the amount needed. For more information log on to www.thisislancashire.co.uk
