IN response to L Lawes' remarks (Letters, January 17) regarding Jubilee Street, in Blackburn, being made a buses-only thoroughfare, the sense in this at present is to allow traffic to get from one side of the town centre to the other.
The A666 has been cut in two by the council's silly improvements and doing any more road upgrades would bring certain parts of the town to a halt. We are at the limits now.
Mr Lawes mentions the buses not all using the Boulevard. The buses have outgrown the bus station which is obsolete and could not cope with a heavy influx at peak times.
As for parking cars on the Boulevard, though all the spaces are never occupied, buses still need lots of room for manoeuvre and parking cars there would be dangerous, as the venue is not fit for a car park at any time.
