REGARDING Mrs H Hamer's complaints (Letters, January 14) about lack of help and investment in Little Harwood, Blackburn, we add our voice, but in respect of Roe Lee.

The Roe Lee Residents' Association, now in its ninth year, is fighting a losing battle to keep our area the nice and respectable one it used to be.

First, the powers-that-be split Roe Lee Area into two wards -- one half, Little Harwood with Whitebirk and the other, Roe Lee Ward, giving us six councillors.

Out of these six we are lucky to get one councillor at our monthly meetings. Without the help of our councillors, volunteers have little chance of getting anything for our area.

As we read in this newspaper, opposition councillors and Labour backbenchers are disillusioned at the way things are run in the town hall. So while we live in hope that somebody will start to listen to us before both our areas go past the point of no return, we are not holding out breath.
