TYLDESLEY RU mini and junior teams took on Littleborough at the weekend.

The U8s chalked up their first win of the season by a 40-35 margin. There were some top class performances with tries from Ben Ormrod (4), Edward Morley (3) and Connor Marsh. Robert Jones was the top tackler.

Playing their best rugby of the season, the U9s won 15-10 with tries from Laura Riches, Conor Norton and Scott Brown.

The U11s showed great determination and battled hard but went down 38-12. The joint man of the match award went to Stephen Meadows and Andrew Jones.

A workmanlike first half performance from the U14s set up a winning position.

They led 5-0 at half time thanks to a try from Dean Brown but had to show great determination to bounce back after thay had conceded a late equalising try. Their persistance paid off when Dominic Rubey went in at the corner for the winner.

Apart from the victory, the most pleasing aspect of the game was Tyldesley's domination of the scrums. The joint man of the match award went to Michael Varden and Nathan Smith.

Players are still wanted for the 7-17 age groups at the club. Training is at St George's Park each Wednesday (6-7) and Sunday (11-12).
